Crowd alleges racism; judge frees teen accused of aiding murder (He’s only out on bond)

TAYLOR – An 18-year-old college student who supporters say is falsely accused of murder was released from jail this morning, after protesters claimed Taylor cops railroaded him and a friend.

Franklin Smith, an incoming freshman at Kentucky State University, has been jailed since the July 31 murder of single mother Wendy E. Meinke, who was killed rushing to the aid of her son after an argument.

A judge at 23rd District Court in Taylor released Franklin on personal recognizance bond after delaying the preliminary hearing of him and Devin Plummer, 17, also of Taylor. About 50-70 protestors gathered outside the court this morning claiming they are innocent. (Mostly family members)

Taylor police and prosecutors weren’t immediately available for comment, but have said they have the right men in custody. A crowd led by Detroit political consultant Adolph Mongo protested the arrests today and claimed the two are victims of racism.

“The charges against the two young men are not surprising when a criminal case involves black men and white women,” Mongo said in prepared remarks. “In small towns like Taylor, locking up black men is a hobby for many white cops.”

Woman Gets Up To 25 Years For Torturing Adopted Twin Daughters

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. — A 30-year-old Warren woman convicted of torturing her adopted 8-year-old twin daughters was sentenced Thursday to up to 25 years in prison.

Tamika Williams was convicted last month of two counts each of torture and first-degree child abuse.

She stabbed the girls with glass and knives, beat them with cable wire, shoes and exercise equipment, bathed them in bleach water, burned them with cigarettes and dunked them in a toilet filled with urine, according to court filings and prosecutors. (Horrifying child abuse but we recieve no picture, this story recieves no national news coverage, no oprah, no foxnews, no msnbc. It’s not worth covering because it’s a nigger that committed the abuse.)

Williams, who had adopted the girls from a home in Southfield, said the twins harmed themselves and that she didn’t notice the marks investigators said covered the girls.

Court hearings had to be delayed because the twins were reportedly too afraid of her to take the stand.

Williams could have faced up to life in prison.( She should be facing a bullet to the base of the skull)

Drop call for special hearing, group asks

An activist group said Friday it wants state Rep. Kim Meltzer to call off her request for a special hearing to investigate what promises government officials made to Nathaniel Abraham, and is accusing her of using the issue for political gain.

“I think that probe has already taken place,” said the Rev. Charles E. Williams, president of the Detroit Chapter of the National Action Network, referring to this week’s revelations by Department of Human Services Director Marianne Udow that the convicted killer would be reimbursed $1,200 by the state for housing.

At age 11, Abraham shot and killed 18-year-old Ronnie Greene Jr. in Pontiac and became the youngest person in Michigan charged as an adult with murder. Abraham, now of Bay City, was released from court supervision Jan. 18, one day before his 21st birthday, and since has been at the center of arguments waged among attorneys and state officials about what financial support he was to get.
