Detroit woman held after ex’s car explodes

Meanwhile, a woman who police say placed a high-powered firework into her ex-husband’s car – causing an explosion that blew the roof off the Mercury Cougar, tossed its windshield more than 100 feet and shook homes on a block of Monte Vista street on the city’s west side – turned herself in to authorities on Wednesday.

Brandon said Cabean-Giles was injured in the explosion and had shards of glass embedded in her skin; police said they plan to use the glass pieces as evidence. Her car, parked a house or two away from her ex-husband’s, had windows blown out from the blast.
