Detroit — From his front porch, Sean Bush can turn to his left and see an abandoned home. He can turn to his right and see a crack house. Now, the 36-year-old is turning to the Internet to escape Detroit.
Tired of crime, unable to find a job and no longer feeling safe in his own home, Bush has created a Web site asking strangers to send him enough money to move.

Hey, somehow the suburbs managed to stay civilized and clean amidst the declining Detroit industry. How exactly was it that the white suburbs survived while the black city itself died?
