WARREN, Mich. – A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the capture of a violent carjacker. Police say he has struck twice in the past three weeks.

Surveillance video from January 31 shows the suspect exiting the County Fair Market at Dequindre and Nine Mile roads and getting inside an unlocked van.

A woman and her step-daughter entered the vehicle upon leaving the store and drove away. We’re told the suspect popped up from the back of the van holding a butcher knife and ordered the two women to stop and get out. They complied and he drove away with the vehicle, which was recovered in the neighborhood the next day.

On February 19, police say he struck again. The victim was shopping at Charle’s Market on Nine Mile Road near Warner Avenue, about a half mile from the earlier carjacking site. She, too, returned to her van, which was left unlocked. Police say the same suspect put a large knife to her throat from inside the vehicle.

“I thought he was going to hurt me. I thought I was going to die,” said the victim, who asked not to be identified.

So far, no one has been hurt. Police believe the suspect lives in the area of Nine Mile and Dequindre roads.

“He’s a predator on young women and children. Quite frankly he’s a coward … Certainly, someone has information that will lead us to his arrest,” said Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer.

If you have any information, you are asked to call Warren Police.
