Police: Farmington Hills woman shot husband in home with marijuana plants

A Farmington Hills woman is facing felony charges after police said she shot her husband in the chest.

Lakeisha N. Pearson, 25, was charged Saturday with assault with intent to murder and using a firearm during a felony. The woman, who uses a wheelchair, is being held on $500,000 bond in the Oakland County Jail. She will be in court for a hearing Wednesday.

Pearson’s husband, 30, whose name is not being released, remains hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his chest. His exact condition is unknown.

Police searching the couple’s apartment in the 30000 block of Covington Club Drive on Friday, the day of the shooting, found a handgun in the home, along with 57 marijuana plants, fertilizer and packaging materials. According to Police Chief William Dwyer, a mature plant yields about 1 pound of marijuana, which has a street value of about $1,200.

The couple, married about 18 months, has 18-month-old twin sons who were home at the time of the shooting but were not injured.
